Your data in FinBase

This Privacy Policy explains what FinBase collects, how it is used, how it is protected, and what choices you have about your data.

1. What FinBase is

FinBase is a private finance tracking application for logging personal and business money activity, accounts, labels, goals, and related records.

2. Information we collect

FinBase may collect and store the following information:

  • Your account details, such as name, email address, role, avatar settings, and password hash.
  • Financial records you choose to enter, including accounts, labels, transactions, notes, categories, goals, split rules, and breakdown-related filter usage.
  • Authentication and security data, such as session data, remember-me tokens, verification tokens, password reset tokens, API connection tokens, and login attempt records.
  • Basic technical or request data needed to operate and secure the service, such as IP address for login protection and security monitoring.

3. How we use your information

FinBase uses your information to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Authenticate you and keep your session active securely.
  • Send account-related emails, such as verification and password reset emails.
  • Store and display the financial records you enter.
  • Support features such as goals, labels, breakdowns, filters, reports, and transaction history.
  • Support optional product integrations you choose to enable, such as secure connection keys for trusted first-party tools.
  • Protect the app against unauthorized access, abuse, and suspicious activity.

4. Cookies, sessions, and local storage

FinBase uses session cookies and related storage to keep you signed in and operate the application correctly.

If you enable “Keep me signed in,” FinBase may use a persistent remember-me cookie to restore your login securely after normal session expiration.

FinBase uses these technologies primarily for authentication, security, and app usability rather than advertising.

5. Email delivery providers

FinBase may use third-party email infrastructure to deliver verification emails, password reset emails, and other essential account-related messages.

These providers process only the information needed to deliver those emails.

6. Optional integrations

FinBase may allow you to generate secure connection keys for trusted first-party integrations, such as Cupira.

These connection keys are used to authenticate read-only access to selected FinBase data that you choose to make available through the app’s private integration layer.

FinBase does not share your data with an external tool unless you actively create and use a connection key for that purpose.

7. Data sharing

FinBase does not sell your personal data.

Your data may be processed by service providers strictly as needed to run the app, such as hosting, email delivery, infrastructure services, or basic operational security tooling.

8. Data retention

FinBase keeps your account and records for as long as your account remains active, unless a shorter retention period is required for security or operational reasons.

Some security logs, temporary tokens, or expired authentication records may expire or be deleted automatically over time.

Revoked or expired integration token records may also be retained for audit and security purposes for a reasonable period.

9. Account deletion

FinBase provides a self-service account deletion flow in Settings.

When you delete your account, FinBase is designed to remove your account and associated records, including transactions, accounts, labels, goals, split rules, categories, and related authentication tokens.

10. Security

FinBase takes reasonable steps to protect your information, including access controls, authentication safeguards, session handling, and account recovery protections.

However, no online system can guarantee absolute security.

11. Your choices

You can:

  • Update your profile information in Settings.
  • Change your password.
  • Delete your account using the in-app account deletion flow.
  • Create or revoke optional integration connection keys from Settings.
  • Contact FinBase with privacy-related questions.

12. Changes to this policy

FinBase may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes means the updated policy applies going forward.

13. Contact

If you have privacy questions or requests, contact FinBase through the contact information provided on the Contact page.
